Hong Kong – Citi was named the top research house in Asia Pacific for 2017 in the annual Thomson Reuters Analyst awards. The awards, now in their thirteenth year, are based on the Thomson Reuters StarMine objective ratings of sell-side securities analysts, measuring the performance of analysts based on the industry excess returns of their buy/sell recommendations and the accuracy of their earnings estimates. "We are honoured to be StarMine's top ranked research team in Asia this year. Our ability to balance both global thought leadership and Alpha generation is critical to helping our clients succeed. This reflects the continuation of our substantial commitment to Asia research and the emphasis we place on stock recommendations and company forecasts as part of our broader research product offering. We are, therefore, delighted to receive this award as recognition of our efforts," said Brent Robinson, Head of Pan Asia Research, at Citi. The 2017 awards recognise sell-side analysts who have shown outstanding performance either as stock pickers based on the calendar year of 2016, and/or earnings estimators on the period between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. Analysts are awarded prizes in three main categories: stock recommendation performance relative to specific industry benchmarks ("Stock Pickers"), accuracy in forecasting earnings as compared with peers ("Earnings Estimators") and brokerage firms whose analysts win the most awards ("Most Award-Winning Brokers").
